How do you tell whether you have a bad Mother Board or CPU?
I bought a new Mother Board and it doing the same thing as the old one. Fan spin but doesn't do anything else.
If fans are spinning and you do not get a single beep, here are the possibilities:
1. Processor is not powering up. Make sure 4 pin 12V ATX connector on motherboard is connected to the Power Supply and you have a snug fit.
2. Processor is dead.
I have observed similar symptoms on motherboards with a dead Northbridge chip or a defective processor voltage regulator circuit on the board. However, since you've got the same symptoms on a new board, I'm more inclined to suspect that processor is dead.
