Pinball Flipper
I'm using a solenoid to action a Pinball Machine flipper...?
- What voltage do I need?
- Should I have it fired by capacitor or direct from battery?
- Where can I get some cheap (in Victoria, Australia)?
The voltage isn't important as long as it's all the same. In other words, the solenoid voltage and your pinball machine voltage should be the same. It doesn't need to be fired by capacitor. I've worked on Pinball Machines and none have been fired by capacitor. You should have a capacitor across any contacts to help suppress arcing and make them last longer. If you're using DC on the coils, suppresion diodes should also be used across them to prevent back EMF. Pinball machines are fairly power hungry. You need a Power Supply running from the mains, not a battery.
