My sega genesis won't work right. The screen turns black but no sound or video. What do I do?
I hooked everything up and it seems like it should work because when I put it on channel 3 and turn the genesis console on, the screen turns black, but it doesn't do anything else. Am i doing anything wrong?
Be sure your cartridges are firmly inserted into the Sega Genesis.
One possible thing to try is to take a standard pencil eraser and rub it over the contacts of the Game Cartridge (on both sides) - this removes some of the gunk that may have built up over time and is not allowing the console to read the game's data.
Try other game cartridges. Many Sega Game cartridges that are over 12 years old won't work right over time - this is a phenomenon known as "bit rot". The symptom is the black screen like you are indicating.
